R2P2 - Day 53

I'm not sure why the protein days lately haven't worked for me. So I'm back to the normal diet and we'll see how that works. It's that time of the month so that could have something to do with the weight gain and my crazy cravings! Going through the grocery store the other day I felt I could have bought a whole dozen donuts and eaten all of them before I got home! That should have told me something!!!

So far this round I'm down 21.6 pounds. I originally started round 1 at 172.6 so I've lost a total of 32.8 pounds, which on my 5' 2 1/2" frame is amazing. I want to lose another 15. My goal weight is 125, a number I never thought I'd see again, especially after turning 50 this year. So far I've lost a total of 33.75 inches. Over 6 just in my waist! These are the things I concentrate on when I hit a stall or I'm only losing .2 or .4. Helps me to keep from getting discouraged!

I have 9 more days on the drops, although I really feel like I've been on them too long. I've up my drops to 10 4x's a day to see if it will help. I figure even if I don't lose much more, it isn't going to hurt me any to stay on them. I'm supporting both of my daughters who are also on the drops. I will be glad to start maintenance and I've already marked down when I'll start my next and hopefully last round. By then I'm hoping I only have to lose the last 10 pounds.

R2P2 - Day 52

Down a pound after my apple day yesterday. Decided to do another protein day today. I'm still up .5 from my lowest weight and I have 10 days left on the drops. If the protein day works I may keep it up until it stops working, but I won;t know that until tomorrow.

By the way, a few days ago I mentioned that I had read about some changes to the protocol foods. I contact my source to ask her why the changes and she said that there have been some doctors that have done some research and found that the addition of these new foods have no detrimental effect on the diet. Since Dr. Simeon's diet was started back in the 60's, they felt they had better means to determine if additional food would work as well. She summed it up by saying you can try them but if you have a problem go back to the basics! I may try the new foods lists when I do Round 3, but I think I'll finish this round with what I've been doing.

In case your curious, the new foods included broccoli, zucchini, brussell sprouts in addition to the vegetables already listed, however you are to have 6 oz per meal per day. Added fruits include 1/2 c papaya, 1/3 c honeydew, 1/2 c cantaloupe and apricots. The meats stayed the same for the most part except for steak it has been changed to Fillet Mignon only, and 93% lean hamburger.

Okay....did I say that Sunday night was worth the weight gain......I was sooooo wrong! I only have 11 more days and it's going to take half of that just to get back on track again. So I did an apple day today.....kind of. My willpower right now is non-existent so I also had a handful of macadamia nuts. Then my daughter was experimenting in the kitchen tonight on cake recipes. We're hosting a bridal shower for a friend and she wanted to see what cake she liked so I also had a couple of strawberries dipped in the icing! I have a feeling that tomorrow may not be what I was hoping for as far as weight loss is concerned. I may do another mini-steak day tomorrow again just to see if it will help.

Yup.....dinner did catch up with me, but you know what....it was still worth it! It's amazing how you savor even the simplest food when you haven't been able to have anything but protocol foods. The wine last night was by far the best I've had and I don't even like wine. Thus the 2 glasses!

Decided to do a steak day today but I broke it up into 2 meals. 4 oz New York Strip steak for lunch and 4 oz for dinner with an apple. I'm hoping I can lose what I gained today, but if I don't I'm sure I will the following day.

Why is is so hard to find the calories in raw meat? And why do the calories vary from site to site? It's very frustrating for a rather compulsive person like me. I want it in black and white and I want it to be consistent. Not pick and chose what calorie count you like the best. So I guessed, hopefully an educated guess and on the high side.......maybe.

Okay.....so this loss may be very short lived. Blew it tonight for dinner....big time! Was only going to have the meet and veggies, but they served chili and cornbread.......so you guessed it! I CAVED!!!! Not only did I have chili with cheese, but I also had homemade cornbread and 2 glasses of homemade pomegranate wine....and I don't even like wine! The only good news is that I also had a salad and they served biscotti for dessert. Hey, it's better than cheese cake! So I'm not going to attempt to count my calories......I'm just going to stat again tomorrow! I'm just praying that I don't gain like 5 pounds! May the scales be kind to me tomorrow!!!

R2P2 - Day 48

Hmmmmm......down another .2 in my ongoing transformation! Decided to try the 'egg'day' today and WOULD NOT recommend it! Yikes. I was starving ALL day! Finally broke down and had some fruit mid day and then again with my eggs at dinner. I'd rather do a mini steak day or even an apple day again before I'd do an egg day. But at least now I know!

A bit worried about tomorrow. We've been invited over to some friends tomorrow night. The first time I've ventured out since I began this round. My will power hasn't been as good as it could be and I hate not eating when every one else around me is. I feel uncomfortable and I know they do to. Therefore.....my delima! My husband says I should eat before we go and explain that I've already eaten, but I'm not really comfortable with that. I'm thinking about not eating today and then being very careful at dinner not to have starch or sugar, but focus on the meat and veggies.

I'm also totally done with this round. I'm staying on it until April 10th to support my daughters. I'd also like to lose a little more weight so when I do round 3 I will only have to do it for the 21 days. I'm hoping only to have about 10 pounds to lose that round plus whatever I gain in the load!

I've also been thinking about adding some walking to my routine for the next 2 weeks. Not anything vigorous, been there done that, but just a leisurely stroll on my treadmill. Can't wait till maintenance to start working out. I've lost so much weight that I really need to start toning! My butt sags!

I make the triple threat tea and at first didn't like it much. It's kind of bitter. But after adding ice and a little stevia, it wasn't too bad. By the time the day ended it actually tasted pretty good.

I had the eggs hard boiled with a little salt and pepper and about 1/2 hour later an orange!

Dinner - 245

I scrambled the eggs with  about 1 tbls minced onions and 1 tbls minced jalapenos and then had a little challula sauce on top. It was very good but not really satisfying. About 1/2 hour later had the strawberries.

Well I guess there's nothing for it but to wait till tomorrow and see if I gain after today's fiasco!

That's right....I MADE IT!!!! Let's just hope it doesn't go back up tomorrow. A .2 gap is a pretty slim margin, but at least I've broken through so even if I go up it should be easier to get back down again.

Been reading about HCG on the Internet. Was interested in an 'egg' day. You eat 6 eggs, preferably hard boiled. 3 for lunch and 3 for dinner. I guess for some it has helped them get over a stall. May try this in the future.

Also found the recipe for 'triple threat' tea. One bag each of yerba mate, green tea and dandelion root. Steep in 1 quart of water and drink throughout the day. It's suppose to also help get over a stall.

One web-site that I've been following has some new ideas on the HCG diet. They've added broccoli, zucchini and Brussels sprouts to the veggies, cantaloupe, honeydew and apricots to the fruits. Have eliminated all beef except Fillet Minon, 93% ground beef and veal. They also instruct that you not consume any caffeine for an hour before or after you take your drops, and that if you aren't losing and you've been on the drops for more than 3 weeks, you might want to take an extra dose as you may be developing an immunity. Not sure what to think of the new guidelines, but may give them a try for the last 2 weeks of being on the drops. Just to see if they work!

I'm beginning to think I'll never drop below the 140 mark! So......decided to do a lean protein day. Double portions of chicken and fish but nothing else. We'll see if it works for tomorrow. (please let it work!) So far today have had 120 ounces of water. That's alot!

Still feeling a bit under the weather with this bug. It just doesn't want to let go. About the time I think I'm feeling better I have another bad day. My husbands had it for over a week longer than me and he was still having problems until just a couple of days ago. He still has the nasty cough. I'd just like to be able to speak like a me again, without every one asking me if I'm OK.

I diced up a little jalapeno (1 tbls) and onion (1 tbls) and sauteed with my chicken in some Bragg's amino's.

Dinner - 180

200g tilapia

I put the tilapia in a skillet and added about 1/2 cup water, topped with some salt free seasonings and turned the flame to low and let it steam cook the fish. Ate it with lemon juice. I had forgotten how good fish is cooked this way. And easy!

Total calories - 405

Have I mentioned how disappointed I'm going to be if I don't lose some weight tomorrow......VERY!!! I did hear of another way to break free from a stall, but I need to research it further. You eat 6-8 eggs throughout the day. Some say it works betters than the mini steak day or the apple day. I'm not sure how it's done....thus the research. Will post what I find.

R2P2 - Day 45

Lost what I gained yesterday. Still having trouble dropping below the 140 mark. I don't know if it's all in my head. I had the same issues with 155, 150, 145. Seems like it took forever.

Was looking at some other HCG blogs and was really impressed with some of the pictures I saw. Really motivated me to stick with it and not just lose what I felt I would be comfortable with, but to actually lose down to what I want to be. I had decided to settle for 135, but after looking at what others have achieved, I'm shooting for 125 even if it takes another round. I may not make it, but at least I will know I tried! That's only 15 pounds from what I weigh now....so I think it's doable!

Decided to forgo my fruit for tonight, since I'm really trying to beak that 140 mark. Plus, I've had 2 liters of water plus another 40 ounces, so that's over 3 liters today and I'm not done. Will probably have tea before bed.

I spent most of the morning going through my closet, which I haven't done in a while. I had gone through all my clothes earlier and boxed them according to sizes. (I'm sure I'm not alone in having multiple sizes in my closet. Right ladies!) So instead of going through them all over again, I could just pull down a box with the next size in it. So down came the size 8 box and guess what.....Everything fit. So then I got to thinking about the clothes already in my closet (after I did a victory dance around my bedroom) and decided I really should go through them and see what fit and what didn't fit. Now mind you, I've already done this twice before, the last time being about a month ago. It was amazing! So many of the clothes I had still hanging in my closet literally fell off my when I tried them on. Pants that I could pull off without unbuttoning them. The same with several skirts. Shorts I had been waiting to get into for this summer were already too big! I got into jeans I haven't worn for at least 10 years. It was the greatest feeling. Really made we want to stick with this.....like forever! I have one more box.....my size 6's. I've dropped 32.2 altogether since my first round and I've gone from a size 14 to a size 8. Whoo Hoo!!! HCG rocks!!!

I sauteed the onions and hamburger in a little Bragg's amino's with a little water and fresh garlic. Tasty!

Again, I sauteed the asparagus, steak, fresh garlic in a little Bragg's Amino's and water with some Montreal Steak seasoning. One of my fav's.

Total calories - 440

Here's hoping tomorrow will finally see me below the 140 mark!

Bummer.....gained and I was hoping to break the 140 mark! Not sure why the gain. I was very good, the only think is that I may not have had enough water, but I was close. It may be just be one of those things. My weight seams to fluctuate at times when I'm loosing. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

I've taken to stir frying my onions with a little Bragg's liquid amino's and some water and 2 or 3 cloves of garlic. Today I added steak, thin sliced and cut into bite size pieces. It's really yummy. I've also taken to adding garlic to my asparagus when I cook them and I can't belive the difference a little garlic makes!

Dinner - 110

100g chicken

I cut up my chicken into bit size pieces and stir fried them with a little Bragg's amino's, some water and some minced jalapeno. It was spicy but very good. A nice change of pace.

Snack - 150

I bought tangelos today and couldn't resist them. Ate all the ones I bought. Will have to remember they are a weakness I can't resist and not buy anymore. Hopefully I won't suffer too much for it. Because I ate the tangelos I decided not to eat anything else with dinner other than the protein. Maybe that will help, plus I drank ALL my water today and then some! Had between 90 and 100 ounces and I'm down to 70 now. I guess tomorrow's weigh in will tell if I blew it or not!

Tried something new with the onions. I sauteed them in Braggs liquid aminos and a little water with some Montreal steak seasoning. Down another 1.1 pounds but I don't think I'm going to make my goal of 140 tomorrow, but I should this week. Still sick with a nasty cold and feeling miserable! Really bad cough and sore throat. Even have been running a low grade fever. It's been 5 days and I thought I'd be better by now. I hope tomorrow starts to pull me out of this. I can't afford to be sick any longer. I've got things to do......like work!

Wow....2.1 pounds in one day! I'm hoping that having a break from the diet has kicked in the weight loss again and maybe now I can get below the 140 mark. Today should be my last day on the drops but I'm going for the gusto! Will be on it for at least 3 more weeks. I'd like to lose another 10 pounds this round although I've come to terms with the fact that I'll probably have to do another round do get the last of the weight off.

I've caught a cold and feel miserable and decided to go off for one day and have some comfort food, including a chile relleno burrito and lots of chocolate! I did have 4 tangelos too. Not even going to try to calculate the calories.....let's just say it was ALOT!!! Maybe it will jump start my weight loss. We'll see.

Down 1.1 after min-steak day. Didn't do too good today. I had extra strawberries and 3 handfuls of almonds (finished them off so no more temptation). So I'm expecting my weight to go up tomorrow. Plus I had meetings all day and was in a hurry so had cottage cheese with tomato for lunch. While it's on the protocol I haven't been having any dairy. I'm sure it won't help!

Down .2 so I'm the lowest I've been so far but still not losing like I want to. Did a mini steak day today to see if that will help. Really don't want to do another apple day if I can help it. Also ran out of water today, can't stand to drink tap water, so I only had 50 ounces today instead of my usual 70 - 90. I did have an extra cup of coffee today and will have some tea before bed, so maybe it will make up for it. I'm sticking with this for 3 more weeks and am hoping for another 14 pounds during that time, but the way things have been going on this it may not happen and I may have to do yet another round! My weight loss for the past week was 4 pounds and the week before that I actually gained some, so we'll see! I'd need to lose 5 pounds a week for the next three weeks. Probably the best I can hope for is between 10 and 12. Maybe!!!

By the way.....new favorite dressing, 1 tbls vinegar, 1 tbls lemon juice, 1 tbls Braggs liquid amino and 4 drops stevia. It's very good and cuts the tartness of the vinegar and lemon.

Down .4 so I am at my lowest weight so far. I'm dying to break the 140 mark and get down into the 130's. I'm down 17 pounds this round. I lost 19.8 the last round but I only did it for 26 days. So this round has been slower with the weight loss, but hey.....it's still working!

Today was another crazy day for me. I cheated a bit in the morning and had 2 tangelos, which made me hungry for the rest of the day. I had my normal lunch and dinner, but may family was snacking all night long and my will power was less than what it should have been, so I had 3 handfuls of raw almonds and at 9:00 pm had another bowl of strawberries. (It was better than the fresh bread with jam that  my family was eating!)I'm hoping I don't pay for it tomorrow with another weight gain. I'm too close to 145 for comfort!

Well....the hamburger day yesterday didn't work to well for me. I was up .2 but talk about a crazy night. I had a bottle of Lipton's unsweetened tea on my way home at about 5 last night. When we went to bed at 11:30 I was wired! I couldn't lay still, couldn't close my eyes......it was weird! So I was up until 2:30 in the morning and I mean WIDE awake! No more Lipton tea for me! Anyway, I think my 4 1/2 hours sleep last night may have had an effect on my weight this morning. I'm hoping for a big drop again tomorrow. I had a normal lunch but only chicken for dinner.

Yes!!! Finally made it below the 145 mark. It's taken over a week to do it, but I finally made it. I tried the mini steak day yesterday and it worked. I'm doing a lean protein day today, pretty much the same as yesterday except I'm having 96% lean hamburger for dinner. I'm hoping it will work as good as yesterday's mini steak day did.

I'm hoping the diced chilies and onions won't hurt me tomorrow, but we'll see. I didn't have any apples or tomatoes so decided to have a little reduced sugar ketchup, which was lower in calories than either the apple or tomato. Only 5 calories for 1 tbls. Here's to my weigh in tomorrow!

Stayed the same today. So I'm trying a mini steak day. Nothing for breakfast and lunch and then a small steak and an apple for dinner. Let's see if that works!

R2P2 - Day 29

Well I managed to lose everything that I've gained this week and am back down to my start weight from last Monday! I was very good today and even went under my 500 mark. In looking over my last week's logs found that I was going over 500 consistently. With everything else I had going on that might explain some of the problems I was having last week. We'll see what tomorrow brings. If I continue to lose....great! If not, I may try a mini steak day. I know I'd rather try a mini steak day than another apple day...that's for sure!!!

I can't believe this! Talk about a messed up week. I've actually managed to gain 1.8 pounds this week instead of losing. 1.8 pounds!!! What's with that?!? I don't know if it's the exercise I did last Sunday, 2 1/2 hours bowling, the In-N-Out burger I had on Wednesday, the mango I had on Friday or the fact that I started my period on Saturday........but whatever it is I wish it would stop already. I've already done one apple day this week, on Thursday to make up for the cheat on Wednesday, and today I had to do another one. Talk about being discouraged. All I can say is......I BETTER LOSE TOMORROW!!!!

Gained again today. It was either the mango I had yesterday afternoon or that I started my period this morning. Decided to do a lean protein day. Had my usual steak and asparagus for lunch but just protein for dinner. We'll see how that works.

I didn't have enough shrimp so I had some chicken with it. Took a 3 1/2 hour nap today. Have been very tired and was cranky today. The late nights we've been keeping have caught up with me. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

Was hoping for more weight loss but hey......it's a loss! Trying to start my period so that may have been why the weight loss wasn't as much as I usually do. It was another crazy day today. I wound up working until 7:00 and didn't get to have dinner until almost 8:00 pm. Not sure if that's going to effect my weight loss tomorrow or not, plus I had a mango with my strawberries for lunch today. Couldn't resist. I had 2 and they were both ripe. As messed up as my day was.....I guess we'll see what the scales say tomorrow.

I've been struggling with hunger issues but it may be because its that time of the month. I'm expecting a gain again tomorrow but am hoping its not too bad. Hopefully I'll get back to dropping weight again. This yo-yoing back and forth is discouraging. I've been fluctuating for a week now, so maybe this was another stall. Hopefully it's over and I can get back to losing. I've decided to stick with the protocol until the end of March. So I'm adding 2 more weeks to the 40 days. I'd like to lose all the weight this time so I don't have to do another round.

R2P2 - Day 24

Down a little today after yesterday's gain. I did not do good today. Despite my best intentions when eating out I caved and had the whole burger at In-N-Out and 1/2 an order of fries. Then I had a handful of Whoppers and 2 plums. Later I had 1/2 a piece of chicken, almonds and craisins. Even later I had a bowl of strawberries. Looks like it's an apple day for me tomorrow. Thankfully I'm past the 21 days, so I'm hoping I'll bounce back pretty quick!

I'm not even going to try to count the calories I've had today. I had 587 calories just at In-n-Out! I estimate my total was somewhere around 1,000.

Up .6 but not sure if it's because of the extra tangelos I had yesterday or the exercising I did on Sunday. I'm still sore and I know that when you work your muscles hard it's not uncommon for them to retain water while they're healing. We'll see what happens the next couple of days!

After the lousy tomato soup I was hungry again, plus it had been a really rotten day so I was needing some comfort food. Still trying to break the 'eating when I feel bad' cycle. Anyway, I caved and had 2 more tangelos, the last ones, and a bowl of sliced strawberries with stevia. Made me feel better, but who knows what the scales will read tomorrow! Plus, I'm scheduling a cheat tomorrow. A friend of ours is getting married and we're taking her into town to register tomorrow and have lunch. I'm already planning ahead and thought I would get a hamburger and just not eat the bun. Probably will be more that 100g and it won't be as lean, but it's better than blowing it big time! Plus I'm planning on doing an apple day again the day after. So I'm hoping I won't gain too much.

Was a bit disappointed in how little I lost after my apple day yesterday. I usually drop at least 1.8 and usually 2. I bowled yesterday for 2 1/2 hours and woke up so sore that I can barely move my arms! May have something to do with how little I lost.
